In this example, you learn an easy way to communicate with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3™ hardware. You can use Simulink® to tune parameters and monitor signals from an algorithm running on the EV3 brick.
You’ll use the prebuilt Communicating with LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Hardware model, named ev3_communication, designed to run on LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 hardware. First you need to add the EV3’s IP address using external mode in Simulink. Then you communicate with the model via the Scope and Frequency blocks.
In this example, you learn how easy it is to tune and monitor an algorithm running on LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 hardware. Here are the basic steps:
- Configure communications between Simulink and LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 hardware
- Tune parameters of an algorithm from the Simulink model running on the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 hardware
- Use Simulink scopes or displays to monitor results from an algorithm running on the EV3 hardware
